Following on from this, NDA UK in collaboration with HExN managed to send a huge amount of equipment & PPEs to Nepal. A huge thanks goes to Professor Satyan Rajbhandari in coordinating this and making it happen. In total the following were sent to Nepal: The devices & PPEs were provided to 6 health institutions Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Model Hospital, National Trauma Centre, Trishuli Hospital and Dhulikhel Hospital, and Nepal Critical Care Development Foundation. The cargo arrived on 28 May2021 to Nepal & the materials were distributed through Diabetes Nepal (another organisation working closely with NDAUK & HExN). Many of these have gone to rural health centres: GENERALSECRETARY’SREPORT 2020-2021 NDAUK would like to thank HExN for collaboration and Diabetes Nepal for facilitating the custom clearance, coordinating with the Ministry of Health and Population, and distributing PPEs, CPAP machines and Oxygen concentrators to different hospitals and Modified Snorkel CPAP to Nepal Critical Care Development Foundation. Special thanks to Dr KP Karn and Dr Nanu Acharya for collecting donation from relevant hospitals they work, and to all contributors towards online fund raising as well as the ever hard working Dr. Ramesh Khoju for acquiring the snorkel masks & connectors. NDA UK JOURNAL, JULY 2021 These modified snorkel masks with connectors were made to deliver continuous positive airway pressure ( CPAP ) in a ward setting by connecting to an oxygen cylinder without the need for a ventilator. We are very grateful to Dr Darshan, Consultant Anaesthetist from the Royal Bolton Hospital and Mr Chris Hillidge (Home of Warrington Fab Lab) for technical and material support.
